100 Day Challenge Day 28: Staying In Control on a Busy Day

I mentioned yesterday on the 100 Day Challenge that Wednesday was going to be busy. I expected to eat the majority of my weekly pro points that I had left.

In the end, I only went into a small amount of them. The whole way I did that was by staying in control and making good choices. That’s an important part of losing weight. Yes, I could have stuffed my face with chocolate because there were periods when I really wanted to, but I didn’t. I didn’t deprive myself either. When I wanted chocolate, I told myself that I would get it later (knowing that I’d have some later anyway).

It doesn’t have to be boring making good choices. Rather than having a bit of chocolate at the end of the night, I shared a punnet of strawberries with my husband and daughter. They gave me the sweet kick that I needed to finish off the day. They were juicier and more delicious than a bar of chocolate, too.

While doing all that, I’m also drinking more water. I’ve even decided to start my day today with a bottle of water rather than a cup of tea. I usually get my caffeine fix on a morning, but I’m going to see how I do without it. Drinking water aids weight loss when working with the Weight Watchers plan. Getting 2ltrs a day will help to keep the body functioning at its optimum level. I may see a small gain this week as I drink a lot more than usual (I used to struggle to get my 2ltrs) but I know it will come off the next week. I just have to make this my new habit.

It’s all about changing things slowly. Despite doing Weight Watchers for two and a half years now (wow!) and being at goal for almost 18 months of that, I am still making changes to my diet. I’ve only just signed back up to a gym (there were a lot of reasons I hadn’t done this before) although I did do some activity while losing weight. Now my challenge is to drink more water.

This 100 Day Challenge has certainly been good for me. Within 28 days I’ve gone back to tracking and weighing everything and finally see where my shortfalls have been the last few months. I feel more in control and I’m making healthier choices throughout the day. It’s making me think again about whether something is worth it. I’m partially looking forward to the scales on Saturday, but with the amount of water I’m drinking, I’m not going to be too disheartened about the gain. I know I’ll see it come off the week after.

By the way, I have 13 weekly pro points left and I earned three activity points between walking around all day and swimming for 30 minutes in the afternoon. I’m not expecting to use anymore the rest of this week, but they’re there if I need them.

    1. It's a challenge that I heard about through a Weight Watchers group on Facebook. We set ourselves a challenge for 100 days and have to stick to doing it. My challenge was the track everything that I ate and drank fully for 100 days straight. So far, so good! There are some who are setting a challenge to get into the next dress size or to increase their activity.

    1. Thanks, Joan. There are so many ways out there, but I believe in healthy eating and exercise :) It may seem like a slow weight loss but it's healthy.

  3. You must have lots of will power if you are able to resist chocolate!! I never buy chocolate or cookies or I know I will eat them.

    1. Chocolate is one of those things that I need to be in the mood for. It's savory stuff that really gets me. Cheese is my downfall.

  4. I must follow your lead and drink more water. I like the way the weight is slowly coming off you. Don't be too concerned with the scales. Your body size and fitness will tell you all you need to know.

    1. Thanks Francene. I want to get back to the goal weight I was at just before Christmas. I know that I can get there. My body size hasn't changed for the last year despite the scales moving and it's really annoying. It needs to slim down a little more.

  5. Great advice: "It’s all about changing things slowly." Absolutely! I'm going to go make my green smoothie for lunch now!

    1. Thanks. So many people want that quick instant result, but it's not going to happen. Changing things slowly makes it easier to change them forever.

  6. It really is all about choices, isn't it? Choices. an important word.

    1. Yes. I was reminded recently of something Jean Nidetch (founder of Weight Watchers) said that it was all about choice and not chance.
