I Won’t Be Following Weight Watchers Canada, and Here’s Why!

I’ve decided that to lose weight for the next 30 days, I won’t technically be following Weight Watchers Canada. It’s not because I don’t believe in the plan. I really do, but there are a few things that stop me from following properly right now.

I can’t justify the cost

This is really the number one reason. While I have all the Weight Watchers products here—well, most of them as some are still to be shipped to us—I don’t have the Canadian books. That means some of the products are going to be difficult to track.

I don’t even know if the plan over here is exactly the same. And I could end up mixing everything up.

Really, I need to attend the classes. Weight Watchers isn’t just about the diet but about the groups and the support from leaders. Right now, I just can’t justify the cost to attend those classes. It’s around $55 per month. Sure, my income has gone up with the move, but so have some of the other outgoings (like food and electricity). Until I know exactly how much everything is and can balance it all out, I’m not adding another month subscription to the monthly bills.

I don’t want to focus on the scales

There is now a holistic plan with Weight Watchers Canada, but the focus is still mostly on the scales. There’s still the need to get weighed every single week, and I just don’t want to do that.

For this 30 months, I want to focus on how I look and feel. I want the clothes to tell me if I’m losing weight. I want my fitness levels to tell me I’m healthier.

I get rather obsessive with the numbers. Even when at goal, I’m not completely happy. I feel the need to be lower because that’s what I was as a teen or at a point in my 20s. I can’t keep living like that, so need to take a step away from the scales and focus on how I feel about myself.

By the way, when I did have bad weeks and I wasn’t expecting them, they would really get me down. I’d try really hard and the scales wouldn’t tell the full story. I don’t want to do that to my head.

I can’t fit it all in

With Monkey going to school, tae kwon do, hubby’s rugby and work, I just can’t physically fit everything in. I’ve not even listed everything that we do.

Right now, my business needs to take priority and that means not doing a few things that I want. My health takes priority, so that means focusing on exercise and activity, rather than paying to join a weight loss club.

Maybe in the future I’ll find the Weight Watchers meetings as a good option but for me right now I can’t fit it all in.

So, not doing Weight Watchers Canada doesn’t mean I don’t believe in it. I know that it works when I stick to it. I know that over the course of the month, I could lose 8-10lbs. But right now, I don’t want to add more to my life.

This does mean this blog will sort of take a different approach. I’m still here to help you lose weight and keep it off. If you’re following Weight Watchers, you will be able to pick up tips and I am here to help. But one thing I’ve always wanted from this blog is to offer help to all those losing weight. Whether you’re doing the Atkin’s diet, following Slimming World, or even counting calories, this blog is here to help you, as well as my Facebook page.

    1. Thanks. Right now, just doing it myself is the right program for me. I know that Weight Watchers works and may join a group in the future, but for now I've got more than enough on my plate to even think about something else.
