June Weight Watchers Challenge Update 3: Oh Dear!

Image
Oh dear! This has been the worst week of the June Weight Watchers challenge. As usually happens, I have completely fallen off the wagon. Well, not quite fallen off the Weight Watchers wagon but I haven't been tracking. My tracker since Saturday is completely empty. However, Friday I did managed to lose 1.5lbs. I'm happy with that, especially since I didn't make it to the gym all week. While I like to hit the gym once a day, I do find it difficult. Right now I'm suffering from a bout of insomnia (it happens now and then and I've learned to just roll with it and let it work out by itself) and my work schedule is jam-packed. I know a lot of people say this, but I don't use work as an excuse. I hate working long hours and as a work at home mom I should be able to control it. But sometimes work piles up and I take on a lot at once. I know my limits and when I am/am not making an excuse. So, what's the plan? Well, right now I am sticking to points. I...

June Weight Loss Challenge Update: 3 Things I Learned Last Week

Image
I'm not quite into the first week of the challenge but I have had a weigh in. My weigh-in day is FRIDAY and then the day after starts a new week for my points. Despite not quite being a week, I have learned a lot while doing my June weight loss challenge and I thought now would be a good time to update. I have managed to track every day. It's not always easy, but I have been able to do it. I haven't quite tracked the ProPoints and calories like I wanted, but I've tracked all my SmartPoints. Here are three things I've learned. Weight Watchers 2016 Smart Points (Beyond the Scale) Deluxe Member Kit Diet Plan Books + Calculator + Journal 1) Sometimes just writing the food down is enough. The only person you cheat when you don't track is yourself. But it can be really hard to track every mouthful, right? I found it much easier with the app but since I don't have a SmartPoiuts app I often have to wait until I get home. So I track the actual food...

Weight Loss June Challenge: Are You Joining Me?

Image
I realized the other day that I hadn't been posting here at all. Admittedly, weight loss hasn't been a priority of mine for the last two months. I've had so much going on that something has had to give. And that something was my weight loss journey. But I've recently had to buy new clothes; not because I was falling out of my others or because they needed replacing. I've had to replace them because they're getting too small! I hate that feeling. It's the summer and I'm 20lbs heavier than I was last summer, when I wanted to lose 40lbs. So now I want to lose 60lbs. And I only have myself to blame. It's not because of a diet that doesn't work. I know Weight Watchers works, but I have to stick to it. I actually tried calorie counting rather than doing Weight Watchers. It did start working, especially as I found out that I wasn't quite eating enough. Even sticking within my points, I wasn't quite eating enough calorie wise and I...

100 Day Challenge Day 20: Back to My Daily Pro Point Allowance

Image
Yesterday wasn’t a normal day for me on the 100 Day Challenge. It seems like none of them have recently, but yesterday was very different. My husband didn’t get home until after 11pm because he was seeing a friend from a former workplace. That meant I had to fend for myself when it came to dinner. It wasn’t that hard, really, and it meant I could make good choices for my pro points allowance. Usually if I know my husband is going to be out, I’d order a takeaway but I ended up making cheese on toast. That’s enough for me and I really enjoyed it. Warburton Thins are my favorite right now and are great for low pro pointed bread choices. The only issue I have is my daughter loves them too and goes through them like crazy! The decision did lead to me sticking to all my daily pro points allowance. I love when I have such a good day like that.  I didn’t get any activity points. I wanted to walk to my daughter’s nursery but the snow has come back! Yes it’s almost May and t...

100 Day Challenge Day 14: A BBQ in the Sun

Image
The sun is shining. Yesterday was gorgeous and a great day 14 on the 100 Day Challenge. Tracking definitely wasn’t a problem and staying within the daily pro points allowance was also exceptionally easy (I wish today was!). We opted for a BBQ lunch. I know what you’re thinking: that’s going to be high. The good news is that BBQs can be one of the lowest pointed options. You see, we skipped the bread and opted for steaks and skewers. In the end, it was a 7 pro point lunch and I was fully satisfied; didn’t even want a yogurt afterwards. I finished on 25 pro points, so one less than my dailies. I considered eating a marshmallow just to give me that one extra point, but I just couldn’t by the end of the day.  With some careful planning and smart choices it is possible to stick to 26 daily pro points and not feel like you’re starving yourself. Of course, there are days that you just need to eat and one of those days has been like that for me. I’ve already almost finishe...

100 Day Challenge Day 5: A Delicious Fakeaway Thanks to Weight Watchers

Image
Image: Pixabay This week in meetings, it’s all about recipe swaps. Ditch the takeaways and opt for the fakeaways. While I admit that there are times that a takeaway is so much easier and more convenient, I prefer the fakeaways. The last few days has been all about fakeaways for our household and it’s all thanks to Weight Watchers. I got my days messed up yesterday on the 100 Day Challenge. Today is actually the update for day 5 on the challenge. Sorry! So, I finished yesterday on 26 pro points. That’s my full allowance eaten. It was a hungry day for me, but I made the good choices for snacks. I had a lot of fruit and when I was fed up of that, I had carrot sticks and one small Weight Watchers bar. I was proud of myself. Before tracking religiously, I know I would have had more chocolate than fruit, so this tracking thing really does work—it’s not just a fad! For dinner, we had pork fajitas, all freshly made. The only thing we used instead of making our own was the ...

100 Day Challenge: Who’s With Me?

Image
Weight Watchers members and leaders all have the same issues. We want to lose weight, but sometimes life and stress get in the way. It can be difficult to stay on track, and sometimes the motivation just isn’t there to even try. I’ve been like that in the past and this week has been an issue for me with tracking for various reasons. It doesn’t help that I’ve been full of cold—kicking it and then getting it back two weeks later! Motivation is at a minimum when I’m ill. But I’m going to do the 100 day challenge to help boost my weight loss. In 100 days, I have a summer ball to attend, so that is my motivation. I want to be able to fit perfectly into a new dress (not bought it yet) and I want to feel great. So, over the next 100 days, my challenge is to stick to tracking EVERY SINGLE DAY and stick to my exercise plan. There are going to be days when things don’t work out. Yesterday I made the decision not to go to the gym while I kicked the cold that I have. There’s jus...
